Solomon recently developed an Equivalent Generation Complexity (EGC) factor that utilizes generating unit design, fuel, and operating factors to assist clients in estimating future operating costs. Continued research using this tool, patent-pending methodology, extensive experience, and proprietary databases led to the development of an EGC-based planning model that incorporates the cost utilization output EGC produces to determine the optimum unit dispatch load to meet system demand at any given point, thereby maximizing the operating system’s net cash margin. This model, in conjunction with the dispatch models currently used within the industry, provides clients a better tool for planning the dispatch of generating assets within their operating systems as compared to using dispatch models alone.
